Sponsorship's do not make the angler.  To have sponsors just means you are good at selling yourself and or their product.  That is all.  Like I told you a long time ago Derrick.  It means nothing to have sponsors.  They tend to just offset the cost of some stuff.  Most sponsors do not even give out free product.  It is a discount or "at cost" if you will.  You are plenty good enough to fish any trail around.  Just keep focusing on your strengths and take one aspect that you are not strong at and utilize that here and there.  You will eventually be good at all.

KaRu are nice as James said.  Check out www.truesouthcustomlures.com also.  John makes some great custom baits.  Illusion Baits also carries some nice stuff!

Rods are all on preference.  Honestly,  I used to love Veritas rods. They went to **** imo.  Mass produce something and that tends to happen.  There are great rods out there.  Lews line of rods are nicely made and work for a lot of peoples budget.  As far as custom rods go.  You need to see what you like best before you pull the trigger.  They tend to get expensive and unless your fishing high venues they aren't really needed.  Reels.  This is another thing that goes under the opinion category and what you like yourself.  I love revo's and I love Lews Speed.  That being said.  There is nothing wrong with shimano or daiwa.  It is all a preference.  Like stated above black max/silver max along with the laser speed reels are great reels.  Find what you like and gradually build on it.

As Derrick said Harris is a GRASS lake.  Probably my favorite lake outside of Tillery here in NC.  Summer time you can go deep, but remember the grass ;).. some big girls will not leave it.

Anyway, Go fishing with someone and test out their gear ... see what you like.  Good luck and welcome to NC .. you will enjoy Sandhills Bass Club.  Great group of guys!

I have a buddy who built a through hull on his kayak.  Cut it out and mounted it in the bottom and then coated it all around to make sure it still floated lol.  I will see if i can get some pics
