Starter Out
« on: April 22, 2014, 08:05:26 pm »
I attempted to drag the boat out of the garage today to begin day 1 of a decarb and tune up....turns out I need a new starter. I pulled the old one out (wish car starters were as easy) and now looking for suggestions to get one around here. I found some on Amazon and eBay but incase I get the wrong thing I'd rather buy local. With online prices ranging from $50-$80 I'd like to keep a local purchase under $100. Any ideas or is online my best bet.

Check marine shops around the area, might be your best bet. Or check google to see if a car one is compatible with the boat engine.

KC actually had a used one laying around that worked so that worked out. Same model starter but the pinion gear was a hair wider...had to use some spacers on the starter mount to get it to engage but it works now.
