When you buy a reel new the company put way too much grease and oil in the reels cause some people never clean them. When I buy a new reel the first thing I do is get off all the factory grease and put on a light coat. A reel it a lot like a gun, to much oil or grease and you collect dirt then it jams. Less is better in this case as well.
