safety on the water
« on: January 08, 2018, 07:22:32 am »
After recent events at Okeechobee this weekend we feel it is time to refocus on safety on the water. We all see these stories, yet they rarely affect us and we never think it will happen to us.Safety should and will be everyone's first and foremost consideration on the water, we all know how bad it gets out there especially during pleasure boat season. It only takes a fraction of a second for something terrible to happen, especially when traveling at high speed and sharing the lake with unseasoned and usually rude uninformed people on the water.
With all that being said , I will be conducting a kill switch test at the preseason tournament to ensure everyone's rig is operating properly , please also ensure that you are wearing the lanyards when under way and also that your life jackets are properly fitting and in working order. I would also ask that if anyone runs into any trouble on the water that they contact me asap DIRECTLY at 919-842-9425 so that I know what is going on and can take the appropriate action in case of a breakdown, or god forbid an accident out there. Weigh ins will not be conducted until I have accurate direct accountability of every club member on the water at every tournament. James, Bobby and myself are taking the safety of our members as top priority to make sure we all have fun and go home at the end of the day. Best of luck to everyone out there this year and can't wait to get back out there with everyone !
