Also Jeff, if your free this Saturday we have a tournament up at Lake Tillery if you'd like to come out and meet everyone . It would just be a fun fish for you but you can see how we operate out there and learn a new lake at the same time

I would love to come out Saturday but I doubt I can make it. Have a feeling I will be working in preparation for a month long field exercise.  >:(
But if something changes I will reach out.

Im coming here from Augusta, GA. Fished the last several years on Clarks Hill Lake. Huge lake with some really nice fish. IF you can find them. It is a herring lake and I honestly never figured it out. Mainly because I like to fish shallow. My favorite way to fish is top water. Absolutely love the explosion!

I have been up to Harris 3 times since Ive been here and each time is worse for me.  :o
Seems like the fish kill has kind of taken over at the moment. Last time out I didn't get a bite. I did fish primarily in the grass and the lay downs though. Should have found a creek or drop off in deep water.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Harris is a tough lake this time of year , well they all are last few weeks with the water temps being so high , but there are some true giants in Harris although the slot limit there makes it tough during a tournament , totally understand about this weekend as well , we almost all are either in or retired from active duty .

I fished the Military Bass Tournament on Clarks Hill in 2011, and you ain't lying about it being a big lake and hard to figure out, but once you find them hold on tight.  Those spotted bass may not be as big as some of the largemouth on Harris, but fun as hell to catch, especially like you said on a top water bait like a Zara Spook.  If anyone else here ever gets the chance to fish it, make sure you go in the spring, and upgrade your hooks before going, and carry extra hooks and split ring pliers, because it doesn't matter what kind of hooks you have on, if you can find those spots schooling and you start catching, those hooks will need to be changed by the end of the day.

Definitely loved catching those spots. Amazing how a 12 inch spot feels like its weighs 5 lbs until you see it!

Had a few days were I easily caught 30 fish. Majority of my days on that lake were 2 or 3 fish. Kind of rough when you spend a day fishing and just having a fish bite is considered success!  >:( ;D
