New Batteries
« on: February 18, 2013, 11:43:30 am »
So my old trolling motor batteries were from March 2008, Everstart MAXX 29 series. Those babies were actually still kicking after 5 years. I knew it was way past time to replace them so I ended up replacing them with Everstart MAXX 24 series batteries. I have a 71lb Digital MG trolling motor so I feel the 24 series is enough to do it for 8 hours of fishing. I always charge every night so I would never end up going on two trips on one charge. The reduction of weight may help too, who knows.  But what I really wanted to bring up is that they have a 2 year free replacement, its been a while since I have had to buy a marine battery but this is pretty unheard of to me. You can bet in 2 years i'll be going back to get my replacement!!!!

So, i'm starting to think I should have bought at 29 series battery.  It will only end up being $30 more and I know will be good to go for probably two outings.  I think I'm going to exchange them tomorrow if nothing else for peace of mind.  I'm thinking about all the times we fish in the wind and around lake lice.....I hate making big purchases..... Advice????? Ron I need you on this one!

got the 29's, but good grief was it hard to fit them in the boat, had to take out my plastic battery holder on the right side of my boat and was able to squeeze it in there, but it is snug right up against the gas tank and the oil tank, big pain in the ass, but i got em in there and hopefully wont have to remove them for a long time lol
