Dinosaur at Harris
« on: May 20, 2013, 04:31:50 pm »
Fishing in one of the pockets Steve and I saw a Snapping turtle that had to have weighed 150+ lbs. This thing was ugly as sin and was pi55ed off that we were there. At one point it came up to the surface and slapped the water right next to us. Dude this thing was nasty. Pretty sure that it could have bit my hand in half.  I might think twice about jumping in that lake next time. But thats just my new thoughts.

Dude Me and Jake seen him the other week and he is without a doubt the biggest turtle I have ever seen. When he top the water it is like a submarine. His head is at least half the size of mine if not bigger..

I too have seen this (or another) turtle of this size.  Like one you see at a zoo thats 500 years old.  When I saw it it was back in March of this year on the west bank of the east arm of the lake half way up.

A turtle of this size is in danger of getting hurt by a boater not seeing it and hitting it with the boat or prop. I would hate to see something happen to it after it has lived for so many years. Do you think we should report this turtle to the wildlife resource commission and see if they can do anything  to help protect it. I am sure they have a safer place to put it.

Clint, do we need to put on some tie dye and all gather in a drum circle to protest those awful boats responsible for killing those poor turtles and manatees.

It has lived this long....avoided boats/props for a very long time I am sure it will be ok without starting a new government program on our home lake

I was thinking it was a endangered species and we would call PETA just to make sure it will be safe....lol jk
