carolina rig
« on: August 07, 2013, 10:41:26 am »
I have never thrown a carolina rig in my life, but ive been hearing alot of fish getting caught on them lately, does anyone have any advice or tips for someone just starting out using one, as far as what type of setup to throw it on, how long of a leader do i need, size weight, anything that will be helpful. Hoping Ron will chime in with some advice on this

I like throwing one. Went to this a few years ago, really removes lots of frustration.

I hardly go over 1/4 oz weight unless really deep. Use wrist to lift, not at elbows, drop pole then reel in slack. Takes time to get use to. It's what took me to classic last year after only 4 tournaments. Would only recommended 18 to 24 inch leader and use mono. Best to keep bait afloat. Can show you how I rig mine at falls if you'd like.
